Breens is a third-generation construction company known throughout Otago for building quality homes and delivering projects that stand the test of time. While locals know the Breen name well, their audience is increasingly out-of-towners who aren’t familiar with the brand. To bridge that gap, Breens needed a way to showcase not just a house, but the story behind it. Our task was to create a compelling piece of content that would highlight their workmanship, values, and ability to bring a client’s vision to life.
We chose to centre the story on a truly special project: a one-of-a-kind stone house. Working closely with the Breen team, we developed a script that drew out what made this build unique: the craftsmanship, the material choices, and the collaboration with the homeowners.
At Big on Writing, our video content always begins with words. By combining script writing with visual storytelling, we were able to capture the authentic voices of the people involved. No actors, no forced lines, just genuine interviews, careful planning, and spontaneous moments that brought warmth and honesty to the story.
The finished video achieved several objectives at once. It showcased the meticulous workmanship of the stone house while also reflecting Breens’ core values: listening, adding value, and delivering a result that matches their clients’ vision. Beyond marketing, the video became a powerful proof point - helping Breens introduce themselves to new audiences, and supporting their entry into the Regional Master Builders Awards, where the home took top honours.
For Breen Construction, the video didn’t just tell the story of a house. It told the story of who they are: builders with pride, skill, and integrity.
